Going Loco is a family business set up by Julie & Mark Taylor. Mark, who collected model railways for years as his hobby, took the leap in 2006 to make his hobby a business. What started as a small shop in Wakefield, West Yorkshire expanded over the years into a large multi room store with an instore layout, and offering other services such as repairs and dcc decoder fitting. With support from Julie and other family members Going Loco also made it’s self a well-known store by supporting many model railway exhibitions locally & throughout the country.

After many years building a successful business Mark & Julie getting close to retirement they invited their youngest son Jonathan to join full-time. Jonathan who had helped out in the shop from being a teenager covering on weekends when Mark & Julie were at exhibitions or helping with the exhibitions as well. Jonathan who previously worked in the construction industry saw the potential of Going Loco, took on the challenge of continuing the success of Going Loco and to even improve it.

Jonathan, who joined in 2015, is now the manager and has seen Going Loco through the recent challenge of the pandemic. Jonathan wants to move more towards online as well as continuing to support the model railway exhibitions from local shows like Wakefield to large ones like Warley and Alexandra Palace in London as well as Glasgow and Cardiff. We cannot forget Going Loco’s fantastic loyal in-store customers whose support has been invaluable.
